Welcome to Maui Strong Childcare

Maui Strong Childcare, in partnership with the Rainbow Fish Foundation (501c3 nonprofit), is an initiative dedicated to providing essential support to those affected by the devastating wildfires in Maui, Hawaii. Our primary objective is to channel funds towards childcare, benefiting both families and childcare providers whose livelihoods were affected due to the fires.

At the heart of this endeavor is Halimah Harden, a seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience in early childhood education, including Waldorf, Montessori, and Reggio Emilia methodologies. Halimah’s vision is to bridge the childcare gap caused by the wildfires and ensure that families and providers receive the support that they urgently need.

Through donations to Maui Strong Childcare, individuals can not only contribute to a vital cause but also avail themselves of a tax write-off and receive a tax receipt. Our commitment extends beyond financial aid; we’re implementing thorough background checks to ensure the safety of both providers and families.

In addition to childcare support, our project includes trauma relief training and early childhood education and resources, recognizing the emotional toll these wildfires have taken on the community. Collaborating with esteemed organizations like Emergency Pedagogy, we aim to transform Maui from a childcare desert into a place of support, resources, and hope for every family and childcare provider.

To emphasize the urgency of the situation, we want to stress that Maui is currently in the midst of a childcare crisis. Families are struggling, feeling disoriented, and grieving. Our mission at Maui Strong Childcare is to deliver much-needed resources and support to every family and childcare provider affected by these devastating wildfires.

Meet the remarkable family behind Rainbow Kitchen — Ted, Tali with their two daughters, Twyla and Rosie — serving plant-based, organic, and nourishing food. They’ve provided over a thousand meals to those displaced by the fires and opened their food truck to the Lahaina community. Now, they’re seeking childcare support to continue their vital work, ensuring their family and the community receive the care they deserve.
